(May 27, 2008) Governor Dave Heineman and First Lady Sally Ganem to proclaim May 27th Akshay Rajagopal Day in Nebraska.  As the Governor explained, "this has never been done for a 6th grade student." Gov. Heineman and First Lady Ganem, a 30-year educator, strongly believe in the importance of parental involvement.  Akshay's parents were by his side at Lux Middle School in Lincoln and in the audience when he bested 5 million students who take part in the National Geography Bee each year. “It's important to learn about the world and the way it works and once you learn all that you can live in it,” Rajagopal said. “Because you can't live in the world if you don't know about it.”
