Gov. Heineman and First Lady(Dec. 7, 2008) Photo Gallery - Governor Dave Heineman and First Lady Sally Ganem host the 61st annual holiday tree lighting. The tree lighting was sponsored by the Pinewood Bowl Committee and included music by St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church Bell Ringers and performances by the Lincoln High and Irving Middle School choirs.
The holiday tree features handmade ornaments from Nebraska’s 93 counties created by the Nebraska Legislative League, Nebraska Jaycees, extension clubs and service organizations. The tree will be on display until Dec. 29.
The Capitol is open for public tours throughout the holiday season, but will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Free guided tours are offered on the hour, except noon, beginning at 9 a.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. The final tour of the day begins at 4 p.m. Call the tour office at 471-0448 for more information.
