A 70-foot long bus emblazoned with the message “A Healthier U.S. Starts Here” stopped in Lincoln on July 12, making Nebraska the 32nd state of a planned 48-state tour to promote the message of prevention. The bus also made stops in Kearney, Omaha, Winnebago and Macy. The message was from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Admiral John O. Agwunobi, M.D., Assistant Secretary for Health, joined Governor Heineman and Nebraska's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Joann Schaefer, saying that it is good business and good government to start pushing prevention as the way to prevent chronic disease and the pain and cost that go with it. |
