Governor & First Lady Announce Plans for 2011 Inaugural Gala

(Lincoln, Neb.) PHOTO GALLERY - Gov. Dave Heineman and First Lady Sally Ganem today announced plans for the upcoming Inaugural Gala taking place on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 7 and 8. For the first time in Nebraska, the 2011 Inaugural Gala will include four events held in communities across the state.

"We are expanding the number of Inaugural events to include more Nebraskans," Gov. Heineman said. "Sally and I, along with Lt. Governor Rick and Connie Sheehy, look forward to greeting Nebraskans as we begin this second term of service."

The celebration begins with an Inaugural Gala Breakfast on the morning of Friday, Jan. 7, at the Gering Civic Center starting at 7:30 a.m. MT, followed by an Inaugural Gala Lunch at the Heartland Event Center in Grand Island at 11:30 a.m. CT.

The black-tie optional Inaugural Gala Dinners will be held in Lincoln on Friday and Omaha on Saturday. The Lincoln dinner will be at the Cornhusker Marriott beginning at 7: 30 p.m. CT.  The Omaha dinner will be at the Qwest Center with the inaugural program beginning at 7 p.m. CT.

Tickets for individual events of the Inaugural Gala can be purchased online at www.celebratenebraska2011.com.  Additional information on entertainment and other details will be available on the inaugural website in the coming weeks as arrangements are confirmed.

Gov. Heineman and Lt. Gov. Sheehy will be sworn in for their second term in office with other state elected leaders during an Inaugural Ceremony to be held in the State Capitol Legislative Chamber on Thursday, Jan. 6 at 1:30 p.m. CT.
