Nebraska Constitutional Officers Call for Pay Freeze
(Lincoln, Neb.) Gov. Dave Heineman and other state constitutional officers today sent a letter to Speaker Mike Flood and State Senators urging lawmakers to freeze salaries paid to constitutional officers during the next elected term.
The letter was signed by Gov. Heineman, Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy, Attorney General Jon Bruning, Secretary of State John Gale, Auditor of Public Accounts Mike Foley, and Treasurer Shane Osborn.
The text of the letter follows:
“Dear Speaker Flood and Members of the Legislature:
“We are writing you today to support a pay freeze for statewide constitutional officers for the next four years (2011-2014). We believe in leading by example.
“Given the current economic challenges, we are requesting that the Legislature not enact any legislation that would increase statewide constitutional officer pay for the next four years. Thank you.”
