Governor Seeks Applicants for District 10 State Senator(Lincoln, Neb.) Gov. Dave Heineman is seeking qualified candidates to represent the 10th district in the Nebraska Legislature. Senator Mike Friend will resign his seat in the Legislature, effective Aug. 16 to become the Director of the Office of Violence Prevention for the state. Applications will be accepted through the close of business on Friday, Sept. 4. Applicants must live within the boundaries of District 10, which encompasses some of the northwest portion of Omaha. A detailed map of the district and its boundaries is available on the Nebraska Legislature’s Web site at http://www.unicam.state.ne.us. The Governor may also choose to seek out additional qualified candidates. The appointee would serve until January 2011, with the seat up for election to a four-year term in 2010. Individuals interested in the position should send a cover letter and resume, along with a completed application form, to Peggy King in the Governor’s Office, at P.O. Box 94848, Lincoln, NE 68509.
