Recovery Funds Awarded for State Road Improvements

(Lincoln, Neb.) Gov. Dave Heineman today announced the distribution of more than $22 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds for upgrades to state highways. The six projects make up the third group of state projects to be awarded ARRA funding in Nebraska.

This phase of improvements includes:

In addition, the next series of ARRA-related projects to be offered for contract bids by the Nebraska Department of Roads (NDOR) have been released. Bid letting is scheduled for June 25, with contracts to be awarded after that date. Information on these and other projects is available on the NDOR website, http://www.transportation.nebraska.gov.

The next round of projects includes two projects:

So far, $76.5 million of the $157.8 million received for state road and bridge improvements has been awarded. An estimated 60 percent of the ARRA funding for state highways will have been committed after the June bid letting. NDOR will continue to release new projects for bid every month until all state road ARRA funds have been awarded.
