(Lincoln, Neb.) Gov. Dave Heineman announced that Central City will receive a $406,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) loan to help Covenant Doors & Millwork, Inc., expand their operations. The project is expected to add at least 25 full-time jobs.

“We share the Williams’ excitement in expanding Covenant Doors & Millwork, Inc., and adding at least 25 full-time jobs,” said Governor Heineman, “This will substantially boost the Central City economy, as well as the surrounding economy.”

Covenant Doors & Millwork is a manufacturer that specializes in architectural custom wood doors, moldings and trim. For this transaction, Central City will loan the business $400,000 to renovate a 15,000-sq.ft. building where the company will establish a production and finishing line for wood cabinets. This new cabinetry line represents a significant return of U.S. production work previously manufactured in China. The remaining $6,000 will be used by Central City for administrative expenses.

Covenant Doors & Millwork, and their strategic business partner, a leading industry wholesale distributor, will invest an additional $1.424 million for equipment and working capital, bringing the total project to $1.830 million.

Federal funds are made available to Nebraska from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s CDBG program, which assists businesses and communities throughout the state. CDBG funds are administered by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.
