Nebraska Leaders Send Letter Supporting

Progress on Heartland Expressway
(Lincoln Neb.) Gov. Dave Heineman and state senators representing districts in western Nebraska sent a letter to the Federal Highway Administration (FHA) representatives yesterday expressing their support for continued development the Heartland Expressway in Nebraska.
State Sens. John Harms of Scottsbluff, LeRoy Louden of Ellsworth, and Ken Schilz of Ogallala joined the Governor in co-signing the letter.
They wrote, “We support using federal earmark funding for the Alliance to Angora project. We are requesting your approval as quickly as possible in order to continue the development of the Heartland Expressway.”
The Federal Highway Administration did not approve the use of federal earmark funds for the original project proposal so state officials have proposed directing funds toward the Alliance to Angora corridor, which will be part of the Heartland Expressway.
Earlier this week, John Craig, Director of the Nebraska Department of Roads, sent a letter proposing that option for moving forward on the Heartland Expressway.
