Gov. Heineman Appoints James Orr of Broken Bow to
Eighth Judicial District Judgeship

(Lincoln, Neb.) Gov. Dave Heineman today announced his appointment of James Orr of Broken Bow to serve as county court judge for the Eighth Judicial District.

This district encompasses Blaine, Boyd, Brown, Cherry, Custer, Holt, Howard, Garfield, Greely, Keya Paha, Loup, Rock, Sheridan, Valley, and Wheeler Counties.

Orr, 45, has had his own law practice since 2000 and specializes in trial work on a number of family matters, as well as estate and bankruptcy cases. From 1994 to 2000 he was a member of the Orr & White Law Office, and worked for three years at the Huston Law office in Broken Bow. He has also served as public defender for Custer County since 1993.

Prior to working in Broken Bow, he was the managing attorney for Western Nebraska Legal Services in North Platte, where he worked from 1990 to 1991, and was a staff attorney at the Scottsbluff office from 1988 to 1990.

He is a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association and the Nebraska Criminal Defense Attorneys Association.

Orr graduated from UNL in 1985 and received his law degree from the UNL College of Law in 1988.
