Gov. Heineman Reminds Nebraskans to Fly Flags at Half-Staff for Patriot Day(Lincoln, Neb.) Pursuant to presidential proclamation, Gov. Dave Heineman is directing that flags at all state buildings and facilities be lowered to half-staff on Thursday, Sept. 11. Nebraska residents are encouraged to fly flags at half-staff in honor of the observance. President George W. Bush has proclaimed Sept. 11 as Patriot Day and has called on all Americans to lower their flags in honor of the victims of terror strikes in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington. “Like most Americans, I can remember where I was and what I was doing when the first plane hit the World Trade Center seven years ago,” Gov. Heineman said. “It’s a day that we should all remember as we continue to move forward. Patriot Day is one more opportunity to remember those lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11. We will never forget.” |
