Nebraska Sending Personnel to Assist with Iowa Flooding & Storm Recovery Efforts(Lincoln, Neb.) Gov. Dave Heineman today announced the state was sending personnel to assist the state of Iowa with flood recovery efforts in and around the town of Cedar Rapids. The request for additional law enforcement personnel came from the Iowa emergency management personnel through a multi-state agreement for mutual aid. “Prior to my visit to Iowa last week, I offered to provide Governor Culver any assistance our state could provide in the wake of recent storms,” Gov. Heineman said. “Our emergency management team is in contact with Iowa officials and the Nebraska State Patrol is coordinating the request for law enforcement personnel. “I appreciate the work these officers are doing to lend a hand to our neighbors in Iowa. As flood waters recede over the next several days, we will monitor requests for additional assistance and respond as needed.” Twenty troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrived in Cedar Rapids. In addition to state personnel, an additional 10 officers from the Lincoln Police Department are expected to arrive this afternoon. |
