Gov. Heineman Comments on Fischer Amendment to Change Gas Tax

(Lincoln, Neb.) Gov. Dave Heineman released the following statement regarding the Legislature’s vote to amend LB 846:

“I support this amendment because Senator Deb Fischer has assured me that there will be no gas tax increase as a result of this compromise. Additionally, $15 million will be transferred from the state’s Cash Reserve Fund over three years to begin work on projects that have already received some federal funding.  I commend Senator Fischer for her leadership on this issue.”
