Gov. Heineman Orders Flags to Half-Staff(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman today ordered that all U.S. and state flags in Nebraska be flown at half-staff in honor of the victims of yesterday’s mall shooting in Omaha. Flags were to be lowered for Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day on Friday, Dec. 7, following a proclamation signed earlier this week by President George W. Bush. Flags in Nebraska will be lowered today and remain at half-staff through Sunday, Dec. 9. “Yesterday was a difficult day for Omaha and our entire state,” Gov. Heineman said. “We are all shocked and saddened by what happened yesterday. On behalf of all Nebraskans, I want to offer my deepest condolences to the families of the victims, as well as the entire Omaha community. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time. This is one way to show our support for the families touched by this terrible tragedy.” |
