Gov. Heineman Names Scott Lautenbaugh to Serve
as District 18 State Senator

(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman today announced he is appointing Scott Lautenbaugh of Omaha to serve as State Senator representing District 18. He will replace Sen. Mick Mines, whose resignation takes effect later this week.

Lautenbaugh, 42, is the former election commissioner for Douglas County. He is a 1983 graduate of Creighton University, where he also attended law school. He received his law degree in 1991.

“A key factor in my decision was Scott’s previous experience as election commissioner,” Gov. Heineman said. “Additionally, he has the support of the Washington County Farm Bureau and Nebraska Farm Bureau. He has a good understanding of the legislative issues facing our state and I look forward to working with him as a member of the Legislature.”

He has been an attorney with Nolan, Olson, Hansen, Lautenbaugh & Buckley, LLP, in Omaha since 1995. He served as Douglas County Election Commissioner from 2000 to 2003.

Lautenbaugh said, “I appreciate the governor’s confidence in me, and look forward to the opportunity to serve my fellow residents in this new capacity.”

He will serve in the Legislature during the next year and be up for election to a two-year term in 2008. Legislative District 18 includes the towns of Blair and Fort Calhoun, as well as portions of Omaha and sections of Douglas and Washington Counties.
