Flags to Fly at Half-Staff on Sunday, Oct. 7

(Lincoln, NE.) Pursuant to presidential proclamation, Gov. Dave Heineman has directed that flags at all state buildings and facilities be flown at half-staff on Sunday, Oct. 7.

President George W. Bush proclaimed Oct. 7 through 13 as Fire Prevention Week in the U.S. and directed that flags be lowered in honor of the nation’s fallen firefighters on Sunday, saying, “We affirm our commitment to raising awareness about fire safety and prevention and we salute our country’s firefighters who perform heroic acts to keep their fellow citizens safe.”
