Governor Seeks Applicants for District 18 State Senator(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman is seeking qualified candidates to represent the 18th district in the Nebraska Legislature. The Governor’s Office received a letter from Sen. Mick Mines today, informing Gov. Heineman that he has resigned his seat in the Legislature, effective Oct. 31. Applications will be accepted through the close of business on Monday, Oct. 15. Applicants must live within the boundaries of District 18, which encompasses the towns of Blair and Fort Calhoun, portions of Omaha, as well as sections of Douglas and Washington Counties. A detailed map of the district and its boundaries is available on the Nebraska Legislature’s Web site at http://www.unicam.state.ne.us. The Governor may also choose to seek out additional qualified candidates. The appointee would serve until January 2009, with the seat up for election to a two-year term in 2008. Individuals interested in the position should send a cover letter and resume, along with a completed application form, to Peggy King in the Governor’s Office, at P.O. Box 94848, Lincoln, NE 68509. The application form is available on the Governor’s Web site at http://www.gov.state.ne.us, and can also be requested by calling the Governor’s Office.
