Gov. Heineman Applauds All-Time Record Nebraska Graduation Rate

(Lincoln, Neb.) November 21, 2014 - Governor Dave Heineman today highlighted news from the Department of Education that nearly 90 percent of Nebraska’s public high school seniors graduated in 2014. The 89.7 percent graduation rate is an all-time high for our state and is a reflection of tremendous effort and coordination between state leaders and the education community throughout the last several years.

Gov. Heineman & Randolph Elementary Celebrate National Academic Achievement

(Randolph, Neb.) November 19, 2014 - Governor Dave Heineman was in Randolph yesterday to celebrate a major educational achievement. Students, teachers and community members gathered with state officials to celebrate Randolph Elementary School being selected as a 2014 National Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education.

Johanns Honors Gov. Heineman on Senate Floor

(WASHINGTON) November 21, 2014 U.S. Sen. Mike Johanns (R- Neb) today took to the Senate floor to pay tribute to Governor Dave Heineman’s service to our state and nation. Heineman took over as governor when then-Governor Johanns stepped down to become U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. Heineman’s term ends in January after 10 years, making him the longest-serving governor in Nebraska history.

Department of Natural Resources Director Resigns

(Lincoln, Neb.) November 21, 2014 - Director Brian Dunnigan of the Nebraska Department of Natural Resources resigned on Thursday. Director Dunnigan was appointed by Governor Heineman to the position in 2008 after serving in the Department for over 30 years. Director Dunnigan said, “It has been a great privilege to serve the citizens of the state and I will miss all of the wonderful people that I have worked with across the state.”

Cooperative Water Agreement Signed with Colorado, Kansas & Nebraska

(Manhattan, Kan.) November 19, 2014 Today, Reflecting a new spirit of cooperation, Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska today have reached an historic agreement during a special meeting of the Republican River Compact Administration. Representatives of the States have signed a resolution, approving operational adjustments in 2014 and 2015 under the Republican River Compact that will benefit water users throughout the Basin and set the Administration on a course to find long-term solutions to persistent problems.

(Omaha, Neb.) November 19, 2014 - Today, Governor Dave Heineman and Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert highlighted the positive outcomes of the “Build Nebraska Act” for the citizens of Omaha, and the state. The Governor and Mayor were joined by Nebraska Department of Roads Director Randy Peters and Omaha City Engineer Todd Pfitzer to provide an update on progress of the Build Nebraska Act projects in Omaha.
