(Lincoln, Neb.) September 29, 2014 - Gov. Dave Heineman today announced his appointment of State Senator John E. Nelson of Omaha to be the 40th Lieutenant Governor of Nebraska. Nelson will officially become the Lieutenant Governor at a swearing-in ceremony with Secretary of State John Gale and Gov. Heineman today at 1:30 p.m. in the Governor’s Hearing Room of the State Capitol.

(Lincoln, Neb.) September 24, 2014 - Today, Gov. Dave Heineman announced the 2014 recipients of the Governor's Wellness Award. This year, 50 Nebraska employers will be honored for successful efforts in promoting workplace wellness. A total of 252 awards have been given since the program began seven years ago. Nebraska is one of only a handful of states nationwide honoring wellness efforts of employers.

Dave Heineman highlighted the 21st Annual Highway Report by Reason Foundation that ranks Nebraska 2nd in the nation for overall highway performance and cost effectiveness. The report named Nebraska among the very best in the country based on pavement condition and cost effectiveness.
(Lincoln, Neb.) September 23, 2014 - Today, Gov. Dave Heineman announced that all four of Nebraska’s veterans homes have received perfect scores on their most recent annual Health Care System Surveys from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The four homes, administered by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), include the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home in Bellevue, the Grand Island Veterans Home in Grand Island, the Western Nebraska Veterans Home in Scottsbluff and the Norfolk Veterans Home in Norfolk.

The conference is for people with developmental disabilities, their families and those with whom they work.
