Meet Snickers!
Snickers is the First Puppy of Nebraska’s First Family, Governor Dave Heineman and First Lady Sally Ganem.
Snickers is a “Silkese” which is a Maltese & Silky Terrier hybrid, and he weighs about 4 pounds. He’ll be around 11 pounds when fully grown.
The First Lady’s son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Jessica Heineman, gave the puppy to her for a birthday present in March of 2010.
Sam and Jessica have a similar dog named Oxley.
To name the puppy, the First Lady collected suggestions from children that visited the Governor's Mansion on tours.
The Governor and she picked Snickers from among the suggestions.
Snickers is a friendly dog and looks forward to meeting Nebraskans as they visit the Governor’s Residence.
