Gov. Heineman Reminds Nebraskans to Fly Flags at Half-Staff for Patriot Day

(Lincoln, NE) Pursuant to presidential proclamation, Gov. Dave Heineman is directing that flags at all state buildings and facilities be lowered to half-staff on Monday, Sept. 11. President George W. Bush has proclaimed Sept. 11 as Patriot Day and has called on all Americans to lower their flags in honor of the victims of terror strikes in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington on Sept. 11, 2001.

"On the morning of September the Eleventh, America was awakened from a false sense of security and thrust into a global war on terrorism," Gov. Heineman said. "Patriot Day ensures that we will never forget the sacrifices made that day, nor the continuing commitment of our service men and women to safeguard a grateful nation."
