(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman announced today that State Budget Administrator Gerry Oligmueller has been selected to receive the 2006 Gloria Timmer Award, which is the highest honor given to budget officers by the National Association of State Budget Administrators (NASBO).
Oligmueller will be presented with the award next week during the NASBO annual meeting in Lexington, Ky.
“I want to congratulate Gerry on his selection to receive this award from his peers at NASBO,” Gov. Heineman said. “I’ve known Gerry a long time and he is not only a well-respected leader here in our state government, but in other states as well. His hard work reflects well on our state, and I appreciate his dedication to all that he does.”
In addition to his role as budget administrator, Oligmueller has served as the acting director of the Department of Administrative Services since January. He has been the head of the budget division since 1995 and was re-appointed in 1999. He previously served as deputy director of the former state Department of Social Services and the Nebraska Legislative Fiscal Office.
Oligmueller served as NASBO president from 2001 to 2002 and is currently involved in providing executive training for other budget officers.
NASBO Executive Director Scott Pattison said, “Gerry’s career of public service has been at the highest levels of management and fiscal responsibility. On behalf of the members of NASBO, I want to express our appreciation for the excellence Gerry has brought to the state budget profession.”
NASBO includes the chief financial advisors to the nation’s governors. The organization is affiliated with the National Governors Association and conducts research, policy development, education, and training to advance state government budget practices. NASBO also publishes the Fiscal Survey of the States, which provides summary information about the budgets of all state governments.
